The installation of an oil flow modifier requires the removal of your valve cover.

    Required Tools:
  • 8mm deep socket
  • 10mm, 12mm socket
    Optional Items:
  • Razor blade
  • Hi-Temp Silicone Sealant

Remove each of the 4 spark plug wires by firmly pulling on the rubber socket on the valve cover side. Now remove the coil harness connector by pulling the red tab out towards the firewall, then push on the black tab and pull the connector off. Slide the black plastic piece holding the harness to one of the valve cover studs, then use a 10mm deep socket to remove the nut holding the coolant line.

Remove the PVC line, this is the rubber hose on the left hand side of the valve cover. Now remove the line going to your intake on the right side of the valve cover.

There are 9 bolts and studs on the valve cover. Remove them using an 8mm deep socket (studs).

You can now pull off the valve cover. You will install the oil flow modifier inside the camshaft cap located on the front-right side of the head.

You must remove the cam sensor. Use an 8mm socket or wrench to remove the cam sensor bolts located on the right side of the head parallel to the intake tube. Use an 8mm socket to remove the first bolt, then a 12mm to remove the 2 bigger bolts. Use a screwdriver's plastic handle to tap on the camshaft cap and pull it off.

Camshaft cap located on the front / right corner

You can now slide the oil flow modifier into the head with the cross drilled skinny side facing down and into the outer hole.

Install oil flow modifier making sure the skinny side faces down

You are now ready to start putting everything back together. Using a clean rag wipe down the head's edges making sure to clean the valve cover seal area. Replace the gasket and spark plug wells seals if necessary.

Reinstall the camshaft cap. Place a small amount of silicone on each corner and torque the 8mm bolt to 125in. lbs. and 12mm bolts to 200in. lbs. Now reinstall the camshaft sensor using an 8mm socket or wrench.

Place a small amount of sealer on the locations shown on the following image. Carefully reinstall the valve cover, making sure the gasket doesn't move out of place. Then install fasten 9 8mm bolts and studs in the proper order following the torque specifications shown below.

Use sealant, install valve cover, and torque down all 9 bolts and studs

Reconnect the PVC and intake line. Reinstall the coolant line holder. Snap the 4 spark plug wires back in place and reconnect the coil harness connector.
