The installation of AFE's Magnum Force Stage 2 Cold Air Intake System involves two basic steps: 1. Remove stock air-box and intake. 2. Install AFE CAI System.

    Required Tools:
  • Long Flathead screwdriver
  • 1/4 or 1/2 inch ratchet.
  • 10mm, 13mm sockets or wrenches.

Begin by using a 10mm wrench to disconnect the battery's negative terminal. This will allow enough time to reset the computer and provide a safer working environment.

Remove stock system: Removes the 2 hoses connected to the plastic intake tube. They are found near the clamp shown in the next image. Remove the intake tube by loosening the two clamps attaching the intake tube to the turbo and the air-box, then pull towards the front and driver side.

Use a long 10mm socket or flathead to reach the turbo clamp.

Remove the rest of the stock air-box assembly. The solenoids bracket on top of the air-box is held by two bolts. There is a harness running along the front of the airbox, pull the two plastic pieces holding it. There is 2 more bolts holding the entire air-box, 1 located near the driver fender the other just right of the driver headlight. Finally, Remove the sensor near the fuse box by pulling up the red tab, then removing the connector then remove the entire air-box assembly from the car.

Remove and disconnect these bolts, tabs, and sensor.
Remove everything and pull out the stock air-box making room for the new intake system.

You will need to transfer a sensor and a grommet washer from the stock air-box to the AFE CAI. Pull the entire previously disconnected sensor out of the air-box and install it on the AFE filter with the connector pins facing the outside.

Remove connector then pull out sensor. You can do this before or after removing the air-box from the car.
Insert stock sensor into the new filter.
Install rubber grommet from the stock air-box first, then push metal piece through.

Install AFE CAI system: Install the bracket that will support the solenoids. Using a 13mm socket, remove the bolt located on the bottom/front side of the battery tray. Also, remove the 2 10mm bolts located on each side.

Remove these 3 bolts on the battery tray.

Install the bracket using the same 13mm bolt. Then install the heatshield box using the stock 10mm bolts on each side of the solenoid bracket and another stock 10mm bolt going through the rubber grommet next to the driver headlight.

Install the heatshield box by these 3 stock 10mm bolts.

Install the supplied clamps to the narrow end (turbo side) of the AFE intake tube, then install in the reverse order of the stock tube's removal. Use the supplied 10mm nut to secure intake to the engine's valve cover.

Install supplied clamps then install intake tube.

Secure the 3 solenoids onto the supplied bracket. Install the AFE cone filter to the intake tube, then connect the sensor the the harness. Reconnect the battery and check all your connections and lines.

Sensor connected to cone filter. Solenoids attached to bracket.
Check clearance before slamming hood.
AFE Cold Air Intake installed.
