What is Media Blasting and how does it work?

Media blasting is a fast and economical approach for removal of paint and rust. Layers of paint that would take days or weeks to sand simply vaporize at the end of a high-pressure nozzle.

A surface free of dirt and grease is critical to a durable finish. We complete all preparation work in-house making sure that your job gets done quicker and you're dealing with one shop.

What type of media will be used?

We specialize in classic and high-end automotive stripping and understand the importance of using the correct media to strip paint and rust. We use nothing that will jeopardize the integrity of the substrate. Our special mixture of garnet abrasives is safe enough of everything from a steel frame to a fiberglass body. There are other factors to consider when shopping around for a blasting shop. Correct pressure, distance, angle, movement of the gun and operator experience are critical to a good finish. We are constantly evaluating the best media to use for each substrate to allow for the fastest and safest way to remove coatings of paint and rust.

How much does blasting cost?

Media blasting a vehicle is surprisingly affordable. Consider all the time, labor, and materials that would go into sanding an entire car by hand and you'll see media blasting is without a doubt the most cost effective method of stripping any restoration project. The amount of time spent to media blast determines the overall cost of a restoration. What is the typical turnaround time?

Small items such as a doors and fenders are usually blasting in a day or two. To do a complete vehicle an appointment should be made a few days in advance to coordinate the best possible schedule. We find most cars take about a week to blast completely.

Equipment Capacity

Our blasting room is especially designed to handle automotive restoration projects. With a total length of 20' and over 14' in width we can blast just about any car or truck.
